Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 7 months, 3 weeks AGO
Noreen Ruth Stemm, 88, of Kingston, Idaho, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully Aug. 13, 2025. “Noni” was born June 5, 1937, at Hollywood Hospital in Los Angeles, Calif., to Fred and Thelma Ryan. Noni graduated from Elsinore High in 1955 and married Tony Ross in 1956. After moving to Idaho in 1968, she divorced and married Robert Stemm in 1979.
Noni worked at the Idaho First National Bank, Farmers Insurance, with Gary Barker, West Valley Insurance with Gail Haynes and for Marlette Manufactured Homes in Umatilla, Ore. It was after that she realized her dream of owning her own business, Lake City Greetings, which brought as much joy to her as it did the newcomers she greeted.
Her passion for singing was known by all who knew and loved her. She was a Sweet Adeline at heart and shared this talent throughout her life. Most of all, Noni shared her love for the Lord with all her family and friends. She and Bob spent their last 20 years snowbirding in Yuma, Ariz., where they met many new friends and learned the true meaning of “Happy Hours.”
She will be deeply missed by her husband, Bob, Cindy (Bert) Burkgart, Craig (Carla) Ross, Keri (Joe) Sonnabend, Kelli (Don) Byers, Jerry (Tammy) Stemm and Bobbi Jo (Chuck) Donnenwirth. She leaves behind her sister, Roanne Ryan; 12 grandkids, numerous great-grandkids, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2025, at Real Life Church in Pinehurst, Idaho, followed by a light lunch.
In lieu of flowers, Noni’s family suggests memorials be made to Gentiva Hospice of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Memories of Noreen and messages of condolence may be shared online with her family at www.shoshonefuneralservice.com. Shoshone Funeral Services, Kellogg, is assisting the family with arrangements.
