The Whitefish Theatre Company is holding auditions Aug. 24 and 25 for the classic thriller "Wait Until Dark" by Frederick Knott.

Murder, secret identities, and a switchblade named Geraldine set the stage for one of American theatre’s greatest suspense plays. Set in 1944 Greenwich Village, Susan Hendrix, a blind yet capable woman, becomes the target of ruthless criminals searching for a mysterious doll filled with contraband. As the tension mounts, Susan must use her courage and wits to outmaneuver her dangerous adversaries in a heart-pounding battle that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

The cast consists of six men, one woman, and one girl. The cast of characters and the age ranges being sought includes: Susan Hendrix, a recently blinded woman (20s–30s) and her husband Sam (20s-40s); Mike Talman, a conman who poses as a friend (30s–40s); Sgt. Carlino, a rough, streetwise crook (30s–50s); Harry Roat Jr. the primary antagonist (20s–40s); Gloria, the Hendrixes’ upstairs neighbor (10-14) and a police officer who may be male or female (20s-50s).

Child auditions will be held at 6 p.m., followed by adult auditions at 7 p.m. at the O’Shaughnessy Center, 1 Central Ave., Whitefish. Enter through the north side parking lot door. If cast, the first read-through will be held at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at the O’Shaughnessy Center.

"Wait Until Dark" runs Oct. 16 through 19 and Oct. 23, 24 and 25.
