Brooklyn Best, Columbia Basin College Soccer

A 2024 graduate of Priest River High, Brooklyn received the start in between the posts and posted a four-save shutout as the Lady Hawks took down Lower Columbia by a score of 2-0 to open the 2025 season. The former Lady Spartans standout goalkeeper played all 90 minutes of the contest and saved two shots during crucial moments late in the game as the Red Devils attempted to rally. Columbia Basin (2-1) will resume play Wednesday, Sept. 10, at Yakima Valley College.

Matyus McLain, University of Idaho Football

A 2023 graduate of Priest River High, Matyus, a redshirt sophomore who recently measured up at 6-foot, 4-inches and 255 pounds, was named a Vandals starting defensive end for the 2025 season via a depth chart released by the team earlier this week. Idaho will take on Washington State this Saturday at Gesa Field in the storied Battle of the Palouse rivalry matchup. Saturday's matchup is the 93rd overall meeting between the two teams. Idaho has played Washington State more than any other school in program history. 

Aubree Lane, Spokane CC Volleyball

A 2024 graduate of Sandpoint High, Aubree recorded a career-high seven aces in a recent 3-1 win over Tacoma. In the Sasquatch's first four matchups, which also included opponents Edmonds, Olympic and Bellevue, the former All-Inland Empire League selection outside hitter racked up 14 aces, 30 kills, 18 digs, 43 serve receptions, three assists and five block assists across 13 sets played. Spokane CC (2-2) will host Highline and the College of the Rockies on Friday, Sept. 5, and Yakima Valley and Carroll College's junior varsity on Saturday, Sept. 6.

Emma Thielbahr, University of Denver Soccer

A 2022 graduate of IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) who also played soccer for Sandpoint High, Emma started and played in all 90 minutes of the Pioneers' three recent matchups against Colorado College (T 0-0), Baylor University (T 0-0) and Seattle University (T 1-1). Between those three games, she put together five shots, two of which were on goal. The 2024 Summit League All-Newcomer Team defender will look to continue to limit the opposition's chances when Denver (1-0-3) hosts Texas A&M Thursday and Southern Utah on Sunday.

Karlie Banks, University of West Florida Basketball

A 2024 graduate of Sandpoint High, Karlie recently completed a transfer from Utah State to the University of West Florida (NCAA Division II) located in Pensacola. The 6-foot 3-point specialist and former Inland Empire League Co-Player of the Year as a senior will look to add depth at the forward position for the Argonauts, which compete in the Gulf South Conference. The team was 20-11 last season and received an at-large bid to the NCAA Division II tournament.
