Elizabeth Anne "Betty Anne" Doxtater, 87, of Whitefish, passed away on Aug. 16, 2025, at The Springs in Whitefish. She was born July 31, 1938, in Libby to Frank and Cecilia Luxa.
She spent her preschool years in Troy before moving to Libby, where she graduated from Libby High School in 1956. Betty Anne then enrolled at Sacred Heart School of Nursing, graduating in 1959. That same year, she married her high school sweetheart, Ken Doxtater.
Betty Anne pursued her nursing career in Stockton, California, followed by Havre, Montana, and later Bozeman, Montana. She and Ken eventually made their home in Whitefish, where their two sons were born. During her boys’ school years, she was a den mother and a room mother for more years than she could count.
She was a devoted stay-at-home mom until 1988, when she began working at Grouse Mountain Lodge, where she was employed until 1996. For many years, she was active in Winter Carnival and in St. Charles Catholic Church.
Betty Anne was preceded in death by her parents in 1979, her husband, Ken in 2007, and her sister, Cheresse Luxa in 2007.
She is survived by her sons, Randy of Whitefish, Tim and his wife, Jeni of Whitefish; grandsons, Casey and wife, Rowan of Whitefish and Alex of Bozeman and her precious great-granddaughter, Mazi.
Cremation has taken place. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12:15 p.m. on Sept. 10 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Whitefish.
