Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 7 months, 2 weeks AGO
Heidimarie Betty “Heidi” Thul, of Hayden, Idaho, died Aug. 10, 2025, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
Heidi was born Sept. 29, 1939, to Max and Martha (Gerstner) Bonfig in Schweinfurt, Germany. In February 1952, after her father was killed in a motorcycle accident, Heidi, an only child, and her mother moved to Mountain View, Calif., to be near her aunt. There, she met and married David Thul in February 1959. In 1970, David and Heidi moved to Hayden, Idaho. After an extended illness, David passed in April 1987. Several years later, Heidi met her longtime partner, Roger Thom, on a blind date. Roger passed in May 2024.
Heidi worked and retired from the Fourth Street Office of West One/US Bank. She enjoyed gardening, fresh flowers, fresh garden fruit and vegetables, watching TV ("The Young and Restless"), watching California quail, pheasants and hummingbirds visit her yard, lunches at Tomato Street and Olive Garden, and collecting Hummel Figurines. Most of all, Heidi loved her puff puff and a cold beer. Heidi was a cat lover, especially her Muffy.
Heidi is preceded in death by her parents, husband and partner. She is survived by her longtime friends: Debbie Smith, Cindy Edington and Linda Hill. She will be remembered by her little smile, which warmed your heart.
At her request, there will be no service. Please visit Heidi’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
