The Ronan football program enters the 2025 season with plenty of change but a steady focus on improvement as the Chiefs prepare for a challenging schedule in one of the state’s most competitive conferences.

Head coach Mike Krahn said the team is moving forward with a largely new coaching staff and a fresh offensive approach.

“The team will have a new look this year with only 2 of 6 coaches returning from last year’s staff,” Krahn said. “We have added two additional coaches. We will be running a new offensive scheme. With all of the change, our expectations will be to improve daily as we grow together as a team.”

The Chiefs begin the season with about 25 players on the roster, a number Krahn hopes will increase when school starts.

“Hopefully we will get a few more out,” he said.

While low numbers can present challenges, Krahn noted that Ronan’s strength lies in its experience up front.

“The offensive and defensive lines have experience and depth,” he said. “With low numbers, it will be important to stay healthy and be in good physical condition to play without many subs.”

That depth in the trenches could prove crucial as Ronan faces a demanding league slate.

“The league is typically very tough and competitive,” Krahn said. “Each week will bring a challenging opponent.”

Krahn said he and his staff have been encouraged by the effort they’ve seen from players through the early stages of preparation.

“So far, all the players have been working hard, and the coaches have been pleased with the attitude and effort,” he said.

As the Chiefs adjust to new systems and continue developing chemistry, Krahn said the focus remains on daily improvement and staying healthy through the grind of the season. With returning line strength, added energy from a refreshed coaching staff, and players buying into the process, Ronan hopes to make strides this fall.
