PREP VOLLEYBALL: Lady Spartans cruise to second win
MAX OSWALD | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 11 months, 3 weeks AGO
I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | August 29, 2025 1:45 PM

Storro added a team-high 25 assists while junior Raygn Turner once again led the offense with a team-high 16 kills. Turner and sophomore McKinley Burgess-Duquette also chipped in three aces apiece in the winning effort. Freshman Hadley Sandau and senior Kenadie Kingery tallied five kills each.
Junior Callie Stanger led the defense with 13 digs for Priest River (2-0), which hosts St. Maries on Tuesday for their 3A Central Idaho League and home opener.

SANDPOINT — Senior Hazel Pierce registered a team-high five kills as the Lady Bulldogs were swept by the Lady Vikings (25-7, 25-8, 25-17) in a 6A/5A Inland Empire League match held Thursday night at Les Rogers Court.
Senior Gretta Back compiled a team-high 12 digs, freshman Averi Mire a team-high eight assists for Sandpoint, which tested out a few different lineups on the night as they worked around some sickness, eventually finding a rhythm in the third set despite the loss.
"We are learning on the job with so many early matches and not enough practices, so we wanted to focus on being more disciplined in a few areas," Sandpoint High head coach Piper Wahlin said. "Our blocking was much improved and we got to see some new players shine in some new positions."
Sandpoint (0-3) hosts Bonners Ferry today at 3 p.m. for a non-league matchup.

CLARK FORK — Senior Aurora Lane posted a team-high eight kills as the host Lady Cats were defeated by the Lady Tigers in straight sets (25-19, 25-19, 25-15) in a non-league game Thursday night.
"It was fun to hear the home crowd go wild when her and Kiylah (Anderson) really connected," Clark Fork High head coach Lyndsie Kiebert-Carey said of Lane. "I was glad to see the adjustments we made in practice on Wednesday make a difference in game time."
Lane added a team-high 10 digs while senior Piper Scarlett recorded eight of her own. Freshman Vanessa Rogier contributed five kills, freshman Kiylah Anderson a team-high 16 assists for Clark Fork.
"We gave away points on serve and serve receive that kept us from staying neck-and-neck headed into the red zone," coach Kiebert-Carey added. "While I would have loved to have performed a little better on the scoreboard, our girls gave the home crowd plenty to cheer about with their scrappy defense and big swings."
Clark Fork (0-2) will travel to Wallace on Tuesday for a 2A Scenic Idaho Conference matchup.
