| August 29, 2025 1:15 AM

POST FALLS — Junior Lucy Carr had 21 assists and two aces, and sophomore Claire Ziegler added 16 assists and two aces as the Post Falls Trojans downed the Lakeland Hawks 25-12, 25-20, 26-28, 25-15 in nonleague play Thursday night at The Arena.

“I was real happy with both of our setters, Lucy and Claire,” Post Falls coach Matt Barkley said. “They moved the ball around all night and always had an aggressive serve.”

Teresa Smith added 11 kills, 10 digs and two aces for Post Falls (2-0). Zuri Blood had 11 kills, Mia Carr eight digs, Reese DeGraw and Tiffany Foxx three blocks each, Annabelle Tucker two blocks.

“Our girls played a great match tonight,” Barkley said. “We came out strong in the first two sets and dictated the tempo. Lakeland is a well-coached team and wouldn’t go away without a battle. They served us pretty tough in the third and kept us on our heels.”

Kindell Day had 17 assists, Jaeli Hoffman 15 for Lakeland (0-2). Alyssa Ryckman had 15 kills, Chloe Neff 14 digs, Raygen Dutton five blocks, Jolie Warren two aces.

“We battled hard, but struggled to find our rhythm in a competitive matchup,” Lakeland coach Kelsie Badger said. “We couldn’t gain the momentum needed to swing the sets. Post Falls kept the pressure on throughout the night, capitalizing on key runs and controlling the pace of play. We showed flashes of tough defense and aggressive swings, but we were unable to sustain consistency long enough to close out sets.”

Post Falls plays host to Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday to open 6A IEL play.

Lakeland returns to action Thursday at home vs. Lake City.
