June Lucille Goecke, 100
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 7 months, 2 weeks AGO
With heavy hearts, our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend, June Lucille Goecke, age 100+, passed peacefully away July 14, 2025, at Schneidmiller Hospice House. June was very strong in her religion and is now with her beloved husband Marvin and our Heavenly Father.
June was born March 1, 1925, to Roy Boyer and Dorothy (Lewis) Boyer of Post Falls/Coeur d’Alene. She was a lifelong resident of Post Falls. June graduated from Post Falls High School in 1944, along with her high school sweetheart, Marvin.
June married her high school sweetheart, Marvin E. Goecke, and they were married for 68+ years. Marvin passed away March 7, 2009. Together, Marv and June built a full life together, like building their own home, taking on extra jobs like picking up trash from families in our community, custom butchering, and remodeling their rental properties. The love that Marvin and June had was very special, and also the love for the special times with family and friends. June and other women from the Women’s Auxiliary of the Post Falls Fire Department helped establish the Well Child Clinic and were strong supporters of the clinic.
June worked as a cook (nowadays she would be called a chef) for a local restaurant (Post Café) in the spring through fall. Then she went to work for Farver’s Grocery store in Post Falls, first in the bakery and then in the meat department as a meat cutter/wrapper until June’s retirement in 2006.
June loved working in her flower and vegetable garden. People would stop by and ask if they could pick some of her flowers and sometimes, she would pick them a bouquet. Her gladiolas were her prize flowers, and she would take a bouquet to the Kootenai Memorial Hospital office staff. June enjoyed spending time with her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. June was also a part of a five-generation family; June, daughter Sharon Alexander, granddaughter Karrie Croll, great-granddaughter Jessica Coleman and great-great-granddaughter Mara Coleman. What a blessing to have five generations in your life.
June is preceded in death by her beloved husband Marvin, parents Roy Boyer and Dorothy Kramer, sisters Betty Stephenson, Mary Lou Brothers, brother Roy Boyer Jr., and grandson Donald Paul Goecke.
June is survived by daughter Sharon (Charles) Alexander; son Gary (Carman) Goecke; sister Mrs. Roberta Mc Millin of Chewela, Wash.; grandchildren Karrie (Hunter) Croll; Scott (Yvette) Alexander; Terry Alexander; Cindy (Mike) Mc Donald; Erikka (Greg) Barrick; 17 great-grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
A special thank you to the staff at Schneidmiller Hospice House in Hayden, Idaho.
A celebration of June’s life will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, 2025, at 10:30 a.m., at Peace Lutheran Church, 8134 N. Meyer Road, Post Falls, ID 83854. A light lunch will be served.
