The Grand Reopening Book Sale sponsored by the Libby Friends of the Library will be held at the Libby Library from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 5.
After months of being unable to have a sale due to basement water issues, we are now ready with lots of new items including books for all ages, DVDs and audiobooks. In addition, we will have our Christmas and holiday items on display that include possibilities for some wonderful gifts as well as books with holiday themes for enjoyable reading this busy time of year.
All purchases made at the sale are by donation, with all money going to help support Library programs.
Also this Friday, local musical group “Bows & Blows” will perform from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the library to gift us with music to start off the holiday season. Refreshments will be served.
From 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Friday, Dec. 12, come join “Holiday Sing-Along,” the indoor caroling party! Amy Smart will lead the singing of all the familiar favorite holiday tunes while enjoying hot cocoa, cookies and candy canes!
All day Friday, Dec. 19, a craft table will be set up with everything needed to make holiday ornaments from melted crayons! All ages are welcome to come and have fun while being creative.
“The Giving Tree” will be on display at the library starting in December as a joint project of the library staff and the Friends of the Library. Tree ornaments will list the name and price of a book that can be purchased for the library collection.
These books are ones that have been requested or are recently published and include titles for all ages. By selecting an ornament and paying for the book, the library will order the book and recognize the purchaser with a donor stamp inside the cover before placing it on the shelf at the Library.
Due to library budget cuts for purchasing books, we are hopeful that with our community’s support of “The Giving Tree”, we will be able to help provide books for our Library.
