Bonner County Daily Bee | UPDATED 2 days, 2 hours AGO
Ashely Nicole O’Connell, 27, passed away Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025, in Springfield, Ore., due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, at the Lakeview Funeral Home in Sandpoint, Idaho.
Ashley was born Sept. 4, 1998, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to David and April O’Connell. She grew up and attended schools in Sandpoint, graduating from Sandpoint High School in 2017. She excelled in academics, was a member of the high school choir, excelled in art, and also helped paint the 2017 senior mural.
Ashley started college at North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and later transferred to Lane Community College in Eugene, Ore., where she received two associate degrees — one in general studies and a second in computer animation. Her plan was to continue on to become a teacher.
Throughout her life she enjoyed being active and playing sports, spending time outdoors. Whether it be camping, fishing, swimming, or hiking, as long as she was out and about. She had a passion for glass blowing, pottery, and gaming as well. She also loved to travel, spend time with family, and help others anyway she could. She had a very giving heart.
She is survived by her parents, David and April O’Connell of Sandpoint, Idaho; one brother Devyn O’Connell; and three sisters Stacey O’Connell, Lacey O’Connell, and Allyson O’Connell; partner Chris Monthey and his daughter, Kameha Monthey, of Springfield, Ore., whom she loved as her own and was starting her adult life with. Also surviving are her grandparents, Anita and Jerry Zapata of Sandpoint, John and Carol O’Connell of Massachusetts, Pamela Rister of Ohio, and Eric VanZomeren of Montana; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Kent Boggess, Chris Rister, and Linda VanZomeran.
