St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho recently received a $5,000 grant from First Interstate Bank in support of its winter warming center in Post Falls.

“We are deeply grateful for First Interstate Bank’s ongoing support,” said Scott Ferguson, executive director of St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho. “Their generosity helps us keep doors open, lights on and individuals safe during dangerous winter temperatures. This partnership truly helps save lives.”

This gift continues a longstanding partnership between First Interstate Bank and St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho, according to a press release.

"For many years, First Interstate Bank has invested in local safety–net services and played a meaningful role in ensuring that vulnerable community members have access to warmth, safety, and essential support," the release said. "Their continued commitment reflects a shared belief in dignity, compassion, and the importance of caring for neighbors in crisis."

The warming center serves individuals throughout the winter season, offering not only emergency overnight shelter when the temperature dips to 33 degrees, but also connections to long-term resources, housing programs and case management.

The shelter expects to be open for about 100 nights and provide around 1,000 bed nights this season, at a cost of about $100,000.
