Adams Tractor breaks ground on new Spokane facility

Adams Tractor is expanding yet again.
In some ways, however, the expansion is a homecoming for the nearly 100-year-old, family-owned company.
Crews broke ground on Adams Tractor's new 16,000-square-foot facility on Tuesday along State Route 2 in Spokane, just west of Longhorn Barbecue and less than a mile from where Don Adams opened the original Adams Tractor in 1929.
“This is a full-circle moment for our family,” said General Manager Matt Adams. “The family farm was practically across the street from this new location.”
The 9-acre property will be home to an over 14,000-square-foot building, as well as an additional 2,000 square feet for equipment storage and a washing bay, according to a Tuesday press release. The remaining acreage will serve as display space and room for growth.
Construction is expected to be completed in the fall of 2026.
The new facility will result in the closure of the Adams Tractor location on Trent Avenue, which has served the Spokane area for around 80 years.
“That property is only about 2 acres, which makes it hard to get trucks in and out,” said Adams Tractor President John Adams. “The new facility is going to work very well for us.”
The new facility will join a lineup of four other locations serving eastern Washington and North Idaho.
Coeur d’Alene Tractor was opened in 1948 on Fourth Street before moving to 1112 W. Appleway Ave. in 1967, where the Adams family continues to serve the area’s agriculture community to this day.
Boundary Tractor, Adams Tractor Lewiston and Adams Tractor Colville are also under the ownership of what is now five generations of the Adams family.
Coeur d'Alene Tractor is known for its generosity and commitment to community.
They have supported local 4-H programs for decades and currently donate time, money and equipment to the Canopy Village, the Ronald McDonald House, CHS and NIC Booster Clubs, CHS Softball Team and CHS Basketball Program.
In 2023, John Adams was named the Coeur d’Alene Regional Chamber’s Citizen of the Year.
For nearly a century, the heart of Adams Tractor has remained the same.
“It’s all about making our customers’ lives easier,” Matt said. “For years, our current location has limited what we can offer. This expansion gives us the opportunity to deliver a better experience for our customers and grow in the areas where they need us most.”

A sepia-toned photograph of about 30 businessmen hangs in the office of Coeur d’Alene Regional Chamber’s President and CEO, Linda Coppess. Though dressed in the fashion of decades past, the men gathered for a purpose that has endured: uplifting area businesses through the Chamber. The photo is a reminder of the Chamber’s 114 years of history, Coppess said in her address to nearly 200 attendees at Tuesday morning’s Breakfast Connect event.
