The entrepreneurial spirit is alive at Russell Elementary School with the return of its second Rams on the Rise Makers Market, Christmas edition, on Dec. 11.
What started in the 2024-25 school year by a group of creative and determined fourth and fifth graders has become a school-wide educational program where students create and launch their own businesses, according to Russell fourth-grade teacher Tausha Holden.
“Their vision inspired others, and the market has now grown to include the entire Russell Elementary student body, making it a true community-wide celebration of student creativity and innovation,” Holden said.
For the market, students were tasked with writing business plans and essays about their ventures, then creating products to sell. Along the way, students worked on problem-solving, collaboration and communication skills.
The Christmas market will be held from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and will feature student performances, including holiday-themed songs and entertainment.
Proceeds from sales will go back into the program, with the next Rams on the Rise Makers Market planned for the spring.
“It’s not just about making products; it’s about creating future leaders and instilling a love of learning and creativity in our youth,” Holden said.
The market will be held in the school gym, 227 W. Nevada St., Kalispell. Visitors may use the entrance located on the north side of the building, off of the playground.
