The Columbia Falls Fire Department responded to a shop fire on Pheasant Drive on Thanksgiving Day in the morning.

Chief Karl Weeks said Whitefish and Evergreen responded with mutual aid and all the departments arrived almost at the same time.

They were able to knock down the blaze quickly, but the shop had extensive damage. A Flathead Electric crew heading to a power outage spotted the fire as flames were coming out of the roof, Weeks said.

November was a busy month for firefighters, as they responded to a total of 47 calls.

The cause of the shop fire remains under investigation.
