The Libby Greenchain wrestling team kicks off its 2025-26 season this weekend at the Owen Invitational in Polson.
The Greenchain return one state medalist in senior Boe Miles and several others who placed at divisionals.
“We have a great group back and we have some great underclassmen,” head coach Dean Thompson said. “Our Little Guy program is really feeding into the varsity and we’re close to doubling up in each weight class.”
Thompson likes the potential of Miles, Bridger Bache, Ian Thom, Jeremiah Thomas and Tanner Wolfe to wrestle deep into the postseason.
For the first time, the Greenchain will have female wrestlers. They include senior Isabella Barnes, junior Meghan Connelley and freshman Lilly Harcourt.
“The girls are working hard and we’ve been able to blend them into our practices, so it’s going well,” Thompson said. “Connelley wrestled in Alaska, so she’s got quite a bit of experience.”
The Greenchain don’t have a home meet until they host the Libby Tournament Saturday, Jan. 24. Wrestling begins at 10 a.m. Bigfork, Browning, Frenchtown and Hamilton will join the Greenchain.
