Presley decommits from Sac State following Marion departure

The day after Sacramento State head coach Brennan Marion accepted the offensive coordinator position at Colorado, Glacier quarterback Jackson Presley announced his decommitment from the Hornets Thursday.
Presley, who led the Wolfpack to their second state championship two weeks ago in a 16-3 victory over Billings West, signed with the Hornets on early signing day Wednesday. That contract is now terminated according to a post on X/Twitter from Presley.
“Due to the unforeseen departure of Coach Marion, I have terminated my contract with Sacramento State and my recruitment is officially open,” Presley wrote. “I continue to put my faith in Jesus and have confidence that he is guiding my path.”
Presley previously flipped his commitment from Boise State to Montana State, then again from the Bobcats to the Hornets before Wednesday’s signing. He features offers from the Griz as well as multiple Power Four conference schools, including Marion’s new squad at Colorado.
On Friday, Presley was named Western AA offensive MVP for the second time and First-team All-State for a third time; he is also Class AA MVP on offense.
In three years with Glacier Presley threw for 7,944 yards and completed 65.2 percent of his passes, both records for the Wolfpack. He had 80 touchdowns through the air — two shy of Brady McChesney’s Wolfpack record — and scored another 23 on the ground. The Wolfpack reached the state title game in all three seasons he was with the program, winning the championship once.
The future for Sacramento State remains murky for the time being. Now with no coach, the Hornets remain without a conference in 2026 and only four scheduled games amidst the school’s attempts to move up to the FBS level.
Presley is rated as a three-star recruit according to 247Sports. National signing day is Wednesday, Feb. 4.
