Edward Louis Campbell, 74, of Rathdrum, Idaho, passed away peacefully Nov. 15, 2025, at Schneidmiller Hospice in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

Ed was born Nov. 12, 1951, in Rialto, Calif., to Vernon Louis and Florence (Warren) Campbell. He was raised on a dairy farm in Careywood, Idaho, and attended Sandpoint High School, where he met the love of his life, Christine Folden. They were married Nov. 16, 1970.

Ed devoted his life to serving others. He worked in emergency services for 35 years, including as a police officer, a Rathdrum firefighter and a Rathdrum Fire Commissioner. He also spent 25 years with Idaho Forest Industries, where he served as the company's Safety Director.

Outside of work, Ed loved hunting, fishing and camping, and he especially enjoyed riding four-wheelers with his family. He and his late wife, Christine, shared a joy for yard saling together, and Ed was proud of his collection of firefighter memorabilia. Above all, he cherished time with the people he loved, often hosting holiday gatherings that brought friends and family together.

Ed will be deeply missed, yet his family finds comfort in knowing he has gone to heaven and is reunited with his beloved wife, Christine, and his youngest son, Robert.

Ed is survived by his son, Scott Campbell; his daughter-in-law, Tina Campbell; his grandson, Eric Campbell; his granddaughter, Erin Hammer; his great-grandsons, Cameron, Karter and Easton; and his great-granddaughter, Amelia.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, at 11 a.m. at Yates Funeral Home — Hayden Chapel and Gathering Center, 373 E. Hayden Ave., Hayden, ID 83835. A reception will follow the service. Please visit Ed’s online memorial and sign his guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com.
