Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 4 months AGO
Lois V. Fuhriman passed away peacefully Dec. 1, 2025, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. She was born May 14, 1932, in Shelley, Idaho, to Daniel and Lottie Mae Janzen. Her idyllic childhood was spent on the family farm, running through the potato fields and gathering eggs from the chicken coop.
She graduated from Shelley High School, where she sang in the choir and played the French Horn in the marching band. Lois then enrolled at Idaho State University, where she met the love of her life, Royce Fuhriman. They eloped in March of her freshman year and raised their three children in a Norman Rockwell-type setting. She loved being a stay-at-home mom in the '50s and '60s.
Lois and Royce traveled the world after Royce retired. She enjoyed playing bridge, golfing, gardening, reading, baking and volunteering for various local organizations.
Lois was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel and Lottie May Janzen, her sister, Nina Humphries, and her beloved husband, Royce.
She is survived by her children: Linda (Jim) Scharnhorst; Steve (Cindy) Fuhriman; and Janet (John Horkey) Fuhriman. She also leaves five grandchildren: Ryan, Eric, Stacie, Kurt and Steven; and six great-grandchildren: Anya, Tanner, Wyatt, Walker, Mia and Jane; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A small private memorial will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Orchard Ridge Senior Living (624 W. Harrison Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814).
