PREP WRESTLING: Post Falls finishes second at Sidney duals

SIDNEY, Mont. — Post Falls advanced to the championship dual at the Sidney Invitational, falling 37-34 in the championship dual against the tournament hosts on Friday afternoon.
Post Falls beat Custer County of Miles City, Mont., 64-6 in the first round, then beat Glasgow, Mont., 53-16 and Laurel, Mont., 53-16 in the semifinals.
Damion Hamilton (175 pounds), Logan Loaiza (126), Matthew Hamilton (152) and Tristan Mendenhall (103) and Zane Smith (215) went unbeaten for the Trojans in the duals tournament.
Lake City sending five to
semis in Owen Invitational
POLSON, Mont. — Lake City’s Solomon Crowley (132 pounds), Caden Ramey (144), Josh Macdonald (157), Chance Browne (190) and James Vincent (215) advanced to the semifinals of the Owen Invitational at Linderman School.
“From top to bottom, the kids wrestled hard today,” Lake City coach Corey Owen said. “We’re pretty young, and going to have some growing pains. But they’re learning things and making the adjustments. We’re definitely headed in the right direction.”
Lake City’s Poppy Schenk (140 pounds), Aspen Kizer (145) and Jordyn McHenry (170) advanced to the semifinals in the girls tournament.
“Both Aspen and Poppy just really stepped up as team leaders today,” Lake City girls coach Nathan DeLeon said. “Aspen really boosted her confidence at regionals and qualifying for state last year and just came out and battled. I’m really looking forward to watching her medal tomorrow.”
Finals are scheduled for today at 2 p.m. PST.
