Strengthening Our Communities

‘Tis the season of giving, and the generosity that fuels Northwest Montana is once again at the forefront of our communities. In this month’s feature, Insights reporter Taylor Inman highlights just how deeply local businesses invest in the nonprofits that help lift up our region.
From Montana Coffee Traders’ long-standing support for Glacier National Park trail work, to Les Schwab’s Tires for a Purpose program that makes new tires accessible to those who need them, to the employee-led campaigns at Applied Materials that raise significant funds for the Flathead Food Bank, the examples are wide-ranging and meaningful. These efforts reach far beyond financial contributions. They include countless volunteer hours, creative fundraisers and partnerships that continue to grow.
National data reflects what we see here at home. Small business owners remain some of the most consistent supporters of youth programs, schools, civic groups and charities. Employers who encourage volunteerism also see higher morale and stronger retention, which means giving back benefits both the community and the workplace.
Businesses of every size are stepping forward during a year when many nonprofits are facing increased demand and tighter budgets. This generosity, both time and financial, is what powers communities like ours and helps make Northwest Montana an incredible place to live.
Thank you for supporting the many nonprofits that serve our neighbors, the businesses that step up to strengthen them, and the journalism that helps tell these stories. We are grateful for our readers and advertisers who make this work possible. As we wrap up the year, I wish you a warm and meaningful holiday season filled with connection, gratitude and community.
