POST FALLS — Attendees faced a wet and rainy Winterfest on Friday, but families kept up their holiday spirit as they waited to meet Santa at Post Falls City Hall, but with burn barrels to keep them warm and roast marshmallows.

Kamryn Abraham joined fellow Post Falls High School Key Club members Hadley Birdsell and Ryan Dretke in turning into elves at the event’s photo station, however it wasn't her first time donning an elf hat for the event.

“I started when I was a wee elf,” Abraham said.

Amanda and Najé Evans helped their kids, Christelle, Garyson and Robby, make s’mores as they waited for the tree lighting ceremony.

“We were having dinner across the street and we didn’t even know this was happening,” Najé said.

S’mores are always a crowd pleaser at the event, so Jason Wiley of Post Falls Parks and Recreation said the department was sure to get supplies for 600 s’mores to last throughout the night.

“We ran out of cookies last year and people only had marshmallows after a while,” Wiley said.
