SANDPOINT — The Bonner County Planning Department is expected to recommend James Pound to the county’s Zoning Commission during Tuesday’s business meeting.
The open position is the result of a resignation from a prior zoning commissioner, where the term expires Sept. 30, 2026. If appointed, Pound will sit for the remainder of the term before being up for reappointment.
In a public interview process, Pound shared that he has been a part of the community for nine years
“I enjoyed working for people and the people in the county. I believe in planning and zoning. We are doing an awful lot of good things right now,” Pounder said in the interview. “We have a very diverse environment that we live in, everything from agriculture to industry to logging, and I'd like to be a part of making sure that the decisions that are made are in the best interest of the people, the best interest of the county, and best interest of whatever industry that's coming in or development.”
Pound has a history with land use, working on land issues in Alaska, specifically assisting with land transfer to the University of Alaska. He additionally has a background in government, according to his interview, working as a chief in staff in the lieutenant governor’s office in Alaska.
