Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 2 weeks, 2 days AGO
SIDNEY, Mont. — Post Falls senior Damion Hamilton beat Tucker Kaczmarek of Huntley Project (Worden, Mont.) 4-1 in the 175-pound championship match, lifting the Trojans to the team title at the Sidney Eagle Invitational on Saturday at Sidney High.
“Damian always brings it and is ready to go,” Post Falls coach Jeremy Zender said. “He came out and had a great weekend.”
Post Falls finished with 220.5 points. Sidney was second with 211.
“It’s just a great kickoff weekend,” Zender said. “It’s something different and you get some things here that you want to see. It was awesome to see everyone step up and compete really well.”
Sophomore Tristan Mendenhall (second at 103), freshman Titus Wise (second at 150), senior Zane Smith (second at 215), junior Matthew Hamilton (third at 132), senior Brandon Felix (third at 138), sophomore Ryker Allen (fourth at 126), senior Colton Austin (fourth at 165), senior Landon Moore (fourth at 190), senior Logan Loaiza (fifth at 126) and sophomore Sawyer Sage (eighth at 144) also placed for Post Falls.
Coeur d'Alene, Lakeland to
settle Tuinstra title Wednesday
SPIRIT LAKE — Coeur d’Alene and Lakeland each went 4-0 to advance to the championship dual of the Van Tuinstra Duals tournament at Timberlake High.
Instead of deciding the champion on Saturday, the teams opted to settle it on Wednesday, when they meet in an already scheduled dual at Lakeland High.
Micah Miller (98 pounds), Rocco White (113), Justus Peregrina (120), Cole Armstrong (126), Tanner George (132), Trevor Edwards (138), Dominic Prangley (144) and Brock Armstrong (190) went unbeaten for the Vikings on Saturday.
“The tournament served its purpose,” Coeur d’Alene coach Jeff Moffat said. “We needed to make weight and get some matches in. We started six sophomores and a freshman, so it was a good tournament to get our feet wet and know what we’ve got to work on in practice. The competition is just going to get tougher from here, so we need to keep improving and getting better. It’s a long road, but a good start.”
Zach Teal (106), Colby Adams (113), Carson Leonard (120/126), Cole Cooper (150), Gage McWatters (175) and Emmit Rivadeneira (215) went unbeaten for Lakeland.
