The Coeur d’Alene Downtown Association is partnering with the Salvation Army Red Kettle Foundation to raise money to help others this holiday season.

Through Dec. 21, association board members, volunteers, and staff will be ringing the bell at Rotary Centennial Park on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. A second red kettle will be available inside The Coeur d'Alene Resort Plaza Shops and participating businesses.

Now in its second year as part of the Downtown Gives Back campaign, the fundraiser's goal is $2,500, which is enough to provide clothing for 10 children and 15 swim lesson scholarships for area students.

"These are just a few examples of how each donation in a Red Kettle translates into tangible, life-changing programs for our local community," a press release said.

The Salvation Army Kroc Center's Red Kettle campaign is $230,000. Volunteer bell ringers are needed.

"By ringing the bell, you’re helping families fight hunger, putting a warm winter coat on a child, providing shelter for a family in crisis and so much more for your neighbors in Kootenai County," a release said.
