The National Weather Service issued a flood watch early Monday afternoon for residents of North Idaho in eastern Kootenai, Shoshone and eastern Benewah counties.
Flooding is possible from 4 p.m. through Thursday afternoon due to rain and snowmelt.
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
An atmospheric river moving into the Pacific Northwest will bring two periods of moderate-to-heavy rainfall to the Idaho Panhandle.
Rain and snowmelt will increase the risk of urban and small-stream flooding and mud and rockslides in steep terrain.
