In the early morning of Oct. 25, 2025, Richard passed away while recovering at Mountain View Health and Rehabilitation. Richard was born Jan. 5, 1943, to James and Mona (Burke) Presnell. Richard started working at a young age to help provide for his family. From delivering newspapers to box boy, grocery clerk, cat skinner, surveyor, construction superintendent/manager, design manager, division vice president, to a self-employed consultant (construction, design and estimating.)
Richard was married to his first wife, Jeanette MacDonald in 1963. Two children, Jamie M. and James M. were born of this marriage.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, James and Mona Presnell, and sisters, Myrna Presnell and Allyson Harold.
Richard is survived by his brother, Roger Presnell and wife, Arletta Presnell; sister, Joan Young and husband, Dennis Young; sister, Judy Klein; daughter, Jamie Presnell-Lentz; son, James Presnell; grandchildren, Carmen Allen, Amanda Leonhard, Niki Paradise, Justin Hoehn, Kaylee Presnell and Sidney Presnell; and great-grandchildren, Sofia, Liam, Jameson, Riley, Dean and James.
Richard enjoyed traveling the world, visiting with friends and family and just enjoying the great outdoors. He loved fishing and huckleberry picking. Making and sharing his huckleberry jam was a highlight for everyone.
The family will hold a private celebration of life in the summer of 2026.
