Brock wins Owen Invite title
JOHN HAMILTON | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 6 months, 3 weeks AGO
Led by Brock Ryan, who claimed the meet championship at 157 pounds, the Plains-Hot Springs Savage Horsemen made a fine showing at the Owen Invitational wrestling tournament Friday and Saturday in Polson.
Besides Ryan winning the 157 pound title in Polson, Beau Crabb brought home fifth place honors at 165 while BillyRay Holotta placed sixth at 150 with the boys.
On the girls side of the Owen Invitational, Kiara Brown won third place at 130 pounds.
P-HS coach Jesse Jermyn said the usual early-season concerns have been shadowing his team. “We had a couple of kids who didn't have enough practices and will have their season opener in Superior this next weekend,” he said. “Overall, Rocky Wagoner, John Waterbury (the P-HS assistant coaches) and I were very happy with the overall results. The goal of the opener is to get a feel for what we need to focus on for the next couple of weeks, and I think we did that in Polson.”
Jermyn said he and his coaches will accompany P-HS wrestlers to a mixer in Superior Friday and to the Bob Kinney Memorial Tournament, also in Superior, Saturday. Since there will be no girls tournament at the Kinney, the Plains girls are heading to Kalispell for the Flathead Girls Invitational that day, Jermyn said.
