Greenchain third at Polson's Owen Invitational

The Libby Greenchain wrestlers, led by Tanner Wolfe’s championship at 175 pounds, had a great start to their 2025-25 season at the Owen Invitational in Polson last weekend.
The boys team had 10 placewinners and placed third in a 20-team field with 247 points.
Levi Nick got Libby off and running with a second-place finish at 110 pounds. Bridger Bache followed with a fourth at 118. Teammate Jeremiah Thomas was also fourth at 132.
Gabe Kosters was sixth at 144 and Boe Miles gave Libby its second runner-up finish at 150 pounds. Also, at 175, Alex Reatz was sixth.
Rounding the placewinners for the Greenchain, 190-pounder Brysen Miller was fifth, Ian Thom was third at 215 and Hunter Nelson was fifth at heavyweight.
Corvallis had one champ and 264 points to win the tournament while Frenchtown had three champions and scored 251.5 points to place second. Columbia Falls had one champ and placed fourth with 203.5 points.
Eureka only had four placewinners, but three were champions and another was second. Colin Hickman, Hunter Grieve and Timothy Schmidt each placed first while Trent Shay was second.
For the Libby girls team, newcomer Meghan Connelley had a successful debut, placing second at 175 pounds. Her finish scored 24 points, 17th in the field of 19 teams. Browning crowned three champions and won the tourney with 265.5 points. Ronan had two champs and placed second while Polson was third with three champions.
The Greenchain are on the road again this weekend with a tri-meet Friday at Stevensville including Whitefish. Saturday, the Greenchain will travel north to Superior on Saturday for the annual Bob Kinney Classic.
