From the Silver Valley to the shores of Oahu, Kellogg girls basketball is taking its game across the Pacific. After a year of growth, the Wildcats return a sophomore-heavy roster with big goals: a district title and a ticket to state.

“I am so excited about the growth these girls made last season,” Nearing said. “The energy they bring and the enthusiasm to learn and grow!”

Roster Outlook

The Wildcats return seven sophomores, one junior, and senior Dani Henrikson, along with freshman Greath Angle, who Nearing says already plays with the IQ of a veteran. Henrikson will anchor the inside game with rebounding and post moves, while Angle provides versatility and offensive threat across the floor.

Players to Watch

Nearing expects contributions from every sophomore but highlighted several standouts:

Jordyn Stutzke – A third-year varsity player and one of the team’s best shooters, known for her vision and game-changing defense.

Dani Henrikson (Senior) – A rebounding machine with strong post moves and court vision.

Gretah Angle (Freshman) – A competitor with offensive versatility and poise beyond her years.

Goals and Challenges

Grangeville looms as the toughest competition in the Central Idaho League, boasting a senior-heavy squad.

“They are the ones to beat and we have our sights set on doing just that and getting ourselves a championship at Districts and a trip to State,” Nearing said.

Key Dates

A highlight of the season will be a trip to Oahu, Hawaii (Dec. 10-15), where Kellogg will play three games against similar-sized schools from across the country.

“This will be a great opportunity to test our systems against opponents we know nothing about,” Nearing explained.

Warns of more departures as turmoil continues

Green was one of the Shoshone County Democratic Committee’s top three nominees to replace Lindsey, but he was deemed ineligible because he did not meet the residency requirement. After Eddy’s appointment, both Green and Stutzke were considered strong candidates for undersheriff, though neither was selected.
