The Kellogg Wildcats wrestling program enters the 2025-26 season with depth, experience, and a clear mission: bring home a state championship. After finishing third at state last year, new head coach Boone Giulio believes this team has the pieces to climb to the top.
“We have a very deep lineup this year with many wrestlers competing in the same weight class,” Giulio said. “This team took 3rd last year at state and has many returners as well as tough underclassmen to fill our open spots. I am expecting us to compete at a high level with the goal of winning it all.”
Roster Outlook
Depth is the Wildcats’ biggest strength. With multiple wrestlers battling for spots in the same weight classes, competition in the practice room is fierce— a good problem for a program aiming for gold.
Wrestlers to Watch
Several standouts headline the roster:
Carsun Hinkelmann (Sophomore) – A returning state finalist who knows what it takes to reach the top of the podium.
Colton Storey (Junior) – The reigning state champion, still hungry to add more titles to his resume.
Aiden Figueroa (Senior) – A cornerstone of the program with leadership on and off the mat, aiming for another podium finish.
Johnny Stovern (Senior) – Looking to build on past state tournament success and lead the team to new heights.
Chase Scribner (Senior) – Back healthy after an ankle injury last season, ready to showcase his full ability and return to the podium.
Kevin Watson (Junior) – A returning state finalist chasing a title with relentless determination.
Goals and Mindset
Giulio emphasizes conditioning and mental toughness as keys to success. “Our goals for this year are to finish stronger than we started,” he said. “Wrestling is a high-paced sport and burnout is common. The teams that can peak at the correct time usually come home with hardware. Our goal is to be the best in-shape wrestling team in 3A and give 100% attitude and effort when we compete.”
The Wildcats’ mindset? Wrestle their style and score points. “Our mindset is not to win—it is to wrestle our style and score as many points as possible,” Giulio explained.
Key Dates
Mark your calendar for Dec. 12-13, when Kellogg hosts the annual George Wild Tournament, featuring more than a dozen schools and high-level wrestling in the valley.

Kellogg sees progress in FEMA flood map dispute
In 2020, Kellogg and neighboring municipalities sought updated river flow data from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, whose long‑term monitoring showed flood levels lower than those reflected in FEMA’s maps. Using that data, Kellogg submitted a Letter of Map Revision, or LOMR, to FEMA in early 2021, arguing that flood levels shown as 100‑year events would likely require flows closer to a 500‑year flood to reach projected elevations.
