It’s all about a fresh perspective for the Mullan Tigers as they navigate the 2025/26 season under first-year head coach Dakota Dykes. With nine athletes, a large roster by Mullan standards, the focus will be on development and building chemistry. 

“This will be an interesting year for Mullan boys’ basketball,” Dykes said. “We have 9 athletes which is a large number for us, but the older players are now on their 3rd or 4th new coach in four years. We have mostly sophomores so the team still has time to develop as a unit.” 

Players to Watch 

Leadership will come from senior Colton Imes and junior Jayden Calvert, who Dykes says set the tone in practice.  

“These two are leaders on the practice floor, and I expect a strong showing from them both this year,” he noted. Sophomores Damian Bosson and Cael Sala are younger talents to keep an eye on as the season unfolds. 

Goals and Outlook 

The Tigers aim to notch a few regular season wins and make a competitive showing at districts.  

“The main goals for the team this year are to bag a few wins in the regular season and make an honest showing at the district tournament,” Dykes said.  

With only two seniors, much of the development will carry over into next year. 

Key Dates 

Circle Dec. 16 and Jan. 22, home league games that Dykes calls “huge for the community and the games that really matter as we head towards district play.” 

What’s New 

After losing graduates Talan Rupp-Connors and “Big Mike,” the Tigers are embracing a new philosophy and offensive mindset.  

“These boys should move as a solid unit, keep each other’s spirits high through thick and thin, and have a fun season they can be proud of,” Dykes said.
