Idaho treasurer urges residents to check for unclaimed funds
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 week, 5 days AGO
Idaho State Treasurer Julie Ellsworth encourages residents to take a moment this December to check whether the state is holding any of their lost or forgotten dollars, especially after last month's record-breaking returns.
Idaho currently safeguards more than $291 million of unclaimed dollars or other property. These funds include forgotten bank accounts, refunds, insurance payouts, rebate checks and other dollars that were separated from their owners and turned over to the state.
These dollars remain available in perpetuity until claimed by their rightful owners.
Search the Idaho State Treasurer's unclaimed property database at https://yourmoney.idaho.gov/. For those with names on the list, the claim is free.
The State Treasurer's Office returned $2.25 million to Idahoans in November, the highest monthly amount ever returned to residents in a single month.
