It’s time for Columbia Falls-area residents to get serious about expressing our ideas, suggestions, and opinions about future growth and development in and around our city. The 2023 Montana Legislature passed the law requiring our community to complete a 20-year plan which will serve as the basis for future development. The Legislature determined that we should participate in the land use planning process NOW, at the “front end,” and have less say in each individual proposed development.
The first step is to participate in the community SURVEY that is available on the city website. https://www.cityofcolumbiafalls.org/ Click on the red bar at the top of the home page.
The deadline is Dec. 11th. It takes 5 – 15 minutes to complete and is critically important that we individual citizens provide this anonymous voice in creating the future of Columbia Falls. City residents and those of us outside of city limits are encouraged to participate. In fact, those of us that live outside the city stand to be most affected by these decisions so our voices are essential! FIRST, complete the survey, then spread the word to family, friends, neighbors. The time is short! Secondly, check the Land Use Planning calendar on that same website and plan to attend the Planning Commission meetings, workshops, public hearings as the plan moves forward. Next Planning Commission meeting is Thursday, December 11th at 6 p.m. at City Hall. See you there!
