PRIEST RIVER — The West Bonner County School District’s access to Skyward, its student management system, came back online Tuesday morning.

The district’s access to the system went down due to a power outage on Friday that encompassed much of the Priest River and Priest Lake areas. WBCSD Superintendent Kim Spacek said the power outage, combined with the district’s aging server infrastructure, made it difficult for the district to get the app back online on Monday.

“We have our servers within the district; they are aging, and they went down, so we are working with Skyward on that,” Spacek said.

Spacek said no data was lost during the outage because it occurred on Friday, when the district does not hold classes. In a Facebook post, district officials said they were having trouble getting their servers back online because of a lack of ideal equipment and resources.

The post also detailed issues with communication the staff was having with Skyward, a Wisconsin-based business, due to time zone differences. The staff was able to get the program back online early Tuesday morning.

Spacek said that the district will soon be migrating to Skyward’s more up to date and fully online system, Qmlativ.
