The funds were raised from the Volley for a Cure events at the high school and middle school, culminating in a varsity volleyball game on Oct. 7 against Timberlake. Wearing pink to spread awareness for breast cancer, the Badgers won in three sets.
The purpose of the Bonners Ferry Women’s Cancer Support Group is to help women affected by cancer, either by themselves or family members, with information and support in dealing with the effects of cancer.
The group provides information on services available regarding treatments and shares experiences in a supporting role. The cancer support group holds during the year to raise money for gas vouchers, which are provided to those who need to travel out of town for cancer treatments or appointments. The amount of the gas vouchers depends on the distance of travel. The Bonners Ferry Women’s Cancer Support Group meets at 9 a.m. at Chic-N-Chop the first Tuesday of each month.
