The city of Coeur d’Alene will host a farewell reception to honor Mayor Woody McEvers at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19, in the Coeur d'Alene Public Library Community Room.

McEvers has served the city since 1997. He joined the City Council in 2002 and served through 2024, and was appointed as mayor when Jim Hammond resigned to move to Colorado and be near family.

McEvers also supported the Lake City Center, advocating for senior citizens and the Meals on Wheels program.

"Mayor McEvers has cherished his time serving the community and is now looking toward retirement," a press release said. "The farewell event will provide an opportunity for community members to share their appreciation and extend their well wishes as he enters retirement."
