A man accused of strangling another man in Woodland Park last year later earned a suspended sentence in Flathead County District Court.
Prosecutors charged Steven Carlisle Snow, 40, with felony aggravated assault in connection with the alleged Sept. 22, 2024 attack in the public park. Snow pleaded not guilty before then Judge Robert Allison on Oct. 17 of that year.
But he struck a deal in March 2025 that saw him plead guilty to an amended charge of felony criminal endangerment. In exchange, prosecutors agreed to recommend he serve a suspended five-year sentence with the state Department of Corrections. Snow pleaded guilty April 3.
Allison stuck to the terms of the deal at Snow's May 29 sentencing. He also gave Snow credit for 86 days of time served.
Kalispell Police officers arrested Snow after the victim and several witnesses accused him of launching the alleged attack about 10:30 a.m. Snow called the victim a child molester before shoving him onto a picnic table, punching him in the face and strangling him, court documents said. Snow then allegedly tried to gouge out the victim's eyes with his thumbs.
During the subsequent trip to the county jail, Snow threatened the arresting officers, telling one he would punch them in the face, court documents said.
