Sulay Abubakari scored 23, Ty Schrock had 20 and Peyton Hinthorn scored 19 as the Badgers shook off a slow start to claim 10-point 68-58 win over the Stillwater Christian Cougars.

Jameson Cartwright-Kissee had six points and Micah Thomson added two.

The Badgers started down 17-8 as the Cougars were excellent in the game’s first quarter, before a contested two off the backboard from Schrock with 15 seconds left made it 17-10 after eight minutes of play.

Down 22-13 early in the second quarter, Bonners Ferry went on a 21-6 run in the seven minutes before halftime to make it 34-28 in favor of the Badgers. At the end of the second quarter, the decibel level was raised in the high school gym when Hinthorn swished a half-court buzzer beater.

The lead grew slightly in the third quarter, which ended 47-39 in favor of Bonners Ferry, before outscoring the Cougars by two points in the fourth quarter to win 68-58.

The Badgers improved to 2-2 and have come back to win immediately after losing twice this season. They will play next at home against Lewiston on Dec. 12 at 6 p.m.

Lewiston has a 1-1 record this season, but was 20-6 last year, ranked 19th in the country. They lost two players to graduation this year but have retained much of their team. The Badgers beat them in a close game the last time they played, 58-55 on Jan. 2, 2025.
