PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Bonners Ferry bounces back to win easily behind the Bateman sisters

Bonners Ferry 71, Stillwater Christian 38
Junior Taren Bateman scored 23 points, freshman Jaycee Bateman added 20 as Bonners Ferry outscored the Stillwater Christian Cougars in each quarter to record a dominant 71-38 win on Saturday, Dec. 6
The Badgers play next at home against Lakeland on Dec. 11 at 7 p.m.
Freshman Bristol Hill scored 11 points to record double digits in points for the first time in her career and junior Eva Willis had nine points and eight rebounds in a fierce display in the post.
The Badgers ran out to a fast start, leading 16-10 at the end of the first quarter, before a 17-9 run in the second quarter stretched the lead to 14 points by the half.
That lead reached 19 points in the third quarter. The fourth quarter turned the game into a blowout, as Bonners Ferry scored 19 points, only allowing 5.
It was a much better passing display for the Badgers in the game, as they limited turnovers while sharp passing was a feature throughout.
Taren Bateman had seven steals and five assists, both team highs to go with a 57% field goal percentage on her 23 points.
Willis shot four from six from the field, while Hill and Jaycee Bateman had at least a 50% field goal percentage each. It was Jaycee Bateman’s first 20-point game of her career.
Senior Alexys Mierke scored six points and junior Nolie Hiatt had seven rebounds and four steals.
Bonners Ferry moves to 2-3 on the season.
