BILLINGS — Billings West standout tight end Matt Ludwig has committed to playing football at Texas Tech University on Friday after being granted a release from a letter of intent he signed with Michigan.
Ludwig announced the commitment on Friday by sharing a post on X with the message, “Guns Up.” Rivals' industry currently ranks Ludwig as the No. 9 tight end and No. 200 overall prospect in the country.
He originally signed with Michigan on Dec. 3 but re-opened his recruitment following the departure of ex-Michigan coach Sherrone Moore, who was fired from the program on Dec. 10. The cause of the termination was stated by Michigan as an “inappropriate relationship with a staff member.” Moore has been arrested since for an alleged assault investigation, according to multiple reports.
Ludwig ended his impressive high school career in Kalispell, where the Glacier Wolfpack won the AA State championship 16-3. He finished the season with 50 receptions for 736 yards and 10 touchdowns.
