MaryAnn McGillivray, 83, of Osburn, Idaho, went home to be with the Lord, surrounded by loved ones, Dec. 10, 2025, 45 years to the day of her husband's death.

Mom was born to Roy and Florence (Wood) Nelson on Jan. 12, 1942. Having grown up in Belt, Mont., she was a Montana girl through and through. After graduation, she moved with grandma and grandpa to the top of Burke while grandpa ran the Burke substation. Mom worked at numerous places in the Silver Valley throughout her life. Some of the jobs I know she enjoyed most were working for the Wallace school district, Fausett International, and Silver Capital Arts in Wallace. Her true Passion, though, was when she went to work at the Kellogg Job Service. She always had a love for helping people. Throughout the 17 years there, she was able to help so many people, who in turn became her friends. She was exceptional at her job. When she started working with youth by getting them into programs and schooling, or by teaching them to be great employees, she shone. She truly loved her kids. We couldn't go anywhere without some kid whose life she touched coming over to talk to or hug 'mom.'

Mom met and fell in love with the love of her life, our father, Gary McGillivray, and her world changed. Mom and Dad wanted nothing but for our family to always be together. Dad passed Dec. 10, 1980. Mom continued on and raised her children by herself, but also took in many others along the way. There are many who still call her mom to this day.

Mom had a long, hard battle over the last 14 years, but she never gave up. There were a lot of hard days, but she always (well, almost always) kept a positive attitude. She will be greatly missed by her family and countless friends, but we rest in the fact that she is in heaven with Jesus, our Lord and Savior, and loved ones that went before her.

MaryAnn is survived by her kids, Kip (Danee) McGillivray, Lisa (Joseph) Rose, and Stacy (Greg) Frank; plus numerous bonus kids including Flo Gunderson, Erica and Jeff Hunter, Corey Raivio, Bruce Bailey, Josh Hemphill, Jeremy Seatz, Brian Kolczak, Mike Wall, Mark Berger, Keith Sims, Kelly Walters — who held a special place in mom's heart, and countless others.

Her pride and joy were her grandchildren, Blake (& Kali), Isaac (& Abby), Austin (& Hope), Boone, Asher, Grady & Gary; with bonus grandchildren Kaylee and Matthew, Griffy, Gavin, Zayne, Gracie, Richard, Austyn and Rylie; as well as great-grandchildren Callum, Saylor and Sylvie.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a special loving son, Mike Gunderson.

Thank you to all the wonderful caregivers who became a part of our lives while taking care of Mom, and to all the friends and family who continued to stop in and care for her.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Hospice of North Idaho Schneidmiller House in MaryAnn's name.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 13, 2025, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Shoshone Funeral Services, 106 S. Main St., Kellogg, Idaho. Interment will follow next to her husband, Gary, at Greenwood Cemetery in Kellogg.
