I grew up in the small town of Orwigsburg, Pa., where I resided all of my life before moving to Sandpoint. I attended Blue Mountain High School, where I participated in cross country and track and field, a sport that I ended up falling in love with. I went on to attend and run for DeSales University (with other brief stints at Susquehanna University and Elizabethtown College) and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in sport communication with a minor in sport management. I remember just how great it made me feel when I was mentioned in my hometown newspaper. I want to be able to give that feeling to every athlete in Bonner County, no matter how big or small their accomplishments are. As an athlete myself, I know how many hours of work are put in on a daily basis, and that hard work deserves to be recognized. It is my goal to cover as much of the Bulldogs, Spartans and Wampus Cats as I can. I want to work with every athlete, parent, coach, administrator and the community to ensure the best stories are published. | December 12, 2025 6:45 PM

Sandpoint 56, Burley 47

IDAHO FALLS — Junior Brecken Mire netted a game-high 20 points, including two three-pointers, and registered a team-high four assists, a team-high four steals and five rebounds as the Lady Bulldogs outscored the Lady Bobcats 34-21 in the second half on their way to a TitleOne Tip-Off Classic consolation semifinals win on Friday morning at the Mountain America Center.

Junior Livia Driggs tallied 12 points, including a three-pointer, and four rebounds, junior Jordyn Tomco seven points, including a three-pointer of her own, five rebounds and two steals for Sandpoint, which trailed 26-22 at halftime before junior Carly Laybourne sparked the offense to open the third quarter.

"Carly has those scoring spurts, like in the beginning of third quarter, and had some nice defensive stops," Sandpoint High head coach Madi Schoening noted of Laybourne, who hit a transition layup and a corner three-pointer to start a Lady Bulldogs scoring run. "Our defense picked things up and we were finding each other in transition, which helped us close out the game. The girls were really motivated to go out and get a win after such a close game yesterday (Thursday)."

Sophomore Adalynn Olmos had 17 points and eight rebounds, sophomore Jocelyn Lloyd 12 points and eight rebounds for Burley, which outrebounded the Lady Bulldogs by a 38-26 margin.

Sophomore Willow Betz chipped in seven points for Sandpoint (6-1), which will face Twin Falls in the tournament's consolation championship Saturday afternoon. Twin Falls defeated 4A Kimberly by a score of 60-52 in their consolation semifinals matchup.
