TRANSIT: Leaders’ early exit disrespectful
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 1 week AGO
I sat in on a Board of County Commissioners meeting today in which the future of the County Transit system and department was discussed. There were representatives present from the City of Hayden, the City of Post Falls and the City of Coeur d’Alene, as well as a representative from the Coeur d’Alene Tribe. This is a long-running discussion and I won’t weigh in on whether the Transit Department should continue to exist at the County level.
What struck me was, at the end of the meeting, all the city representatives got up and left before the public comment section. In fact, they put on their coats and walked out while a citizen was speaking.
I found this incredibly rude and wondered if it was indicative of their attitudes toward their voters. The Coeur d’Alene Tribe representative alone remained throughout the public comment section. Why do we vote in people who show they don’t care what their constituents think? I am not naming names; they know who they were.
