Marie Ann (Mutch) Skelton, 87

Marie Ann (Mutch) Skelton peacefully entered the presence of the Lord on Sunday, Nov. 30, 2025, in Pinehurst, Idaho. Marie was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt. She was born April 7, 1938, in Spokane, Wash., to Clarence and Freda (Bliesner) Mutch. She grew up in Kellogg, Idaho, attending schools there.

In 1955, Marie married Forrest Chapin. Together, they had four children: Glenn, Janice, Larry and Colleen. Marie was a special mother and very active in her children’s lives. She was a Cub Scout and Camp Fire Leader and a member of the PTA. She was also active in the J.C. Social Club.

She worked as an accountant for many years, which later took her to California for a job transfer working for Fireman’s Fund. There, she married her second husband, Sherman Skelton. After he passed and she retired, she moved back to Idaho to be closer to family.

Marie is survived by her loving family: her children, Glenn (Lucy) Chapin, Athol; Janice (Orlando) Berti, Pinehurst; Colleen (John) Roberts, Kingston; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren; sister Alma White; and brother Jerry Mutch. As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her mother, Freda, and her father, Clarence; a son, Larry; and two brothers, Donald and Harvey Mutch.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 28, 2025, at Lutheran Church of the Master, 4800 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83815. Please join the family for a reception to follow the service.
