PREP GIRLS BASKETBALL: Brooklyn Charles leads Kootenai girls to first victory

HARRISON FLATS — Sophomore Brooklyn Charles scored 19 points as the Kootenai Warriors notched their first win of the season, 71-13 over the Classical Christian Academy Kodiaks JV of Post Falls on Saturday at Kootenai High. 

Sophomore Sadie Rose Davidson scored 16 points for Kootenai (1-2), which hosts Clark Fork on Thursday. 

Ava Williams scored six points for Kootenai Classical Academy.

POST FALLS — Sophomore Annabelle Tucker scored 13 points to lead five Trojans players into double figures, and Post Falls pulled away in the second half to beat Ferris of the Greater Spokane League for its third straight victory. 

Olivia Hollenbeck and Jaya Felix each added 11 points for Post Falls (3-8), and Brooklyn Reese and Gracie Gluhak both scored 10. 

“The first half we missed a lot of free throws; at one point we missed seven free throws in a row, and missed three or four layups,” Post Falls coach Brian Carlson said. “The second half we missed two free throws and made all our layups.” 

Senior Brooke Chisholm scored 22 points for Ferris (3-3). 

“Getting our point guard (Kailey Walton) helped a lot last week,” Carlson said. “This week we had a full week of practice. And winning builds confidence.” 

Post Falls travels to Lakeland on Tuesday.

HONOLULU – Senior Dani Henrikson had 11 points and 16 rebounds for the Wildcats, who finished the 1-2 in the Pink Bracket of the KSA Oahu Classic at Radford High.

Sophomore Aleah Philp had seven rebounds for Kellogg (5-2), which hosts Moscow on Friday.

Ramsey (7-5), of Birmingham, Ala., went 3-0 in pool play.
