Marlene Diane Lodge, 76, of St. Ignatius, left her Earthly house for her Heavenly home on Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2025, after facing dementia with gentle grace, patience and courage.

She was a Spanish teacher who retired from Mission High School in 2015 after decades of caring for her beloved students. She previously worked at schools in Victor, Alberton, Arlee and Missoula, including at the university.

She was known for organizing trips to foreign countries for her Spanish club students, and her fundraising efforts on their behalf, as well as other acts of Christian love.

Some people in the valley may remember the community plays she helped direct.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Paul, and her children, Paula and Ryan.

A service will be held to honor, remember and celebrate her life, as well as to grieve her passing, at the First Christian Church of St. Ignatius on Saturday, Dec. 20, at noon, followed by refreshments.
