PUBLIC NOTICE Opencut Mining Permit: Resting Rock Pit Sanders County, Montana Area Landowners Board of County Commissioners Re: Public Notification Letter Opencut Mining Permit: Resting Rock Pit – Sanders County, Montana To Whom It May Concern: Shumaker Trucking & Excavating Contractors, Inc. of Great Falls, Montana is submitting this letter as our official Public Notification for a proposed Opencut Mining Permit in Sanders County. The pit is located west of MM5 off Hwy 28. Access to the permit area will be from a private road off HWY 28. Signs with information will be posted at the pit site. This proposed gravel permit would allow the excavating and processing of materials for use in construction and retail sales. The depth of excavation is estimated to be 15 feet from the existing ground surface level. The area currently is covered by approximately 14” of topsoil and overburden which will be stripped and saved for final reclamation. The site will be permitted for 30 acres, but initially there will only be 10.2 acres of disturbance. Final reclamation, which includes re-establishment of vegetation, would be completed by December 31, 2045.
