Shoshone News-Press | UPDATED 10 hours, 46 minutes AGO
Freda Grace Jones, 94, of Wallace, Idaho, passed away Dec. 13, 2025, in Silverton at Cascadia Health and Rehabilitation, Silverton, Idaho. Freda was born April 13, 1931, in Deer Park, Wash., a daughter of the late H. Ward Gray and Freda (Cline) Gray.
The family moved to Woodland Park, Idaho, in Freda’s early years. She attended school in Wallace and graduated from Wallace High School, Class of 1949. Soon after graduation, Freda married Henry D. Jones on June 11, 1949. After raising her family, Freda worked alongside her husband for many years doing the books for the Wallace Supply Company.
She enjoyed being a mom, grandma and great-grandma. She was very involved in her children's activities. She loved music and singing at church, with the Sweet Adelines and in many plays and musicals. She also enjoyed many kinds of needlework and, later in life, painting. She was on the Wallace School Board and an active member of PEO. She loved living in Wallace and would relate the town's history (which she knew well) to anyone who showed interest.
In addition to her parents, Freda is preceded in death by her husband, Henry Jones, who passed away Dec. 15, 2013; a son, Gregory Jones; and four siblings, Marjorie Gray Rieske, Dorothy Clem Wiegele, Darrel Gray and Sandra Clark Mullins.
Survivors include eight of her children, Karen Snow, Rick Jones, Cynthia Brackett, Steve Jones, Diana Hosking, Robert Jones, Marta Arthurs and Matthew Jones; 16-plus grandchildren, 23-plus great-grandchildren and a large extended family.
A celebration of Freda’s life is being planned for next spring.
Freda’s family wishes to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at both Shoshone Medical Center and Silverton of Cascadia Health and Rehabilitation for their excellent care of Freda. It is greatly appreciated.
