Peguero lifts Cougars to victory over Lady Griz

HOUSTON, Texas — Briana Peguero scored eight points in the final 3:52 to lift Houston to a 60-54 win over Montana on Tuesday morning at the Fertitta Center.
Houston (6-5) held Montana (2-7) without a basket for the final 6:47 of the game. The Cougars outrebounded the Lady Griz 44-34.
Montana led 48-41 with 4:40 left in the game before Houston finished the game on a 19-6 run.
Jocelyn Land led all scorers with 15 points and four steals. Mack Konig added 13, and Avery Waddington had seven points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Peguero led Houston with 14 points and went a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line. TK Pitts scored 11 and recorded a double-double for the Cougars with 12 rebounds. Amirah Abdur-Rahim added nine points.
The Lady Griz continue their three-game road trip in Texas at the Abilene Christian Christmas Classic on Friday at 4:30 p.m. against the Wildcats (6-4).
